One Island. Three Ways to Experience It.
Private, expertly guided round-Sri Lanka journeys, built around how you actually like to travel.
Where every journey begins with a little more thought.
Breeze of Asia was founded by a team who have spent years designing journeys across this island and watching the same mistake repeat itself: one itinerary, lightly reshuffled, sold to every kind of traveller who asks for it. We built three genuinely separate collections instead, each with its own pacing, its own properties and its own seasonal logic, because a traveller chasing a grand cultural circuit and a traveller chasing a slow coastal reset are planning two different trips, not two versions of the same one. That distinction shapes everything we recommend, from the hotels we hold relationships with to the specific week we’d tell you to avoid a particular park.
Why Choose Us?
Three Collections. One Standard of Care.
We design specifically for how different travellers actually want to experience the island, rather than running one itinerary past everyone. Each collection is shaped around a distinct travel style, not a generic template stretched to fit.
Private, Start to Finish.
Every vehicle, guide and safari jeep is yours alone. No joining a coach, no waiting on other travellers.
Honest About the Seasons.
We'll tell you plainly when whale season is over, when the rains are due in the hill country or when a park is better avoided, before you book, not after.
On the Ground When You're Here.
24/7 local support for the length of your trip, not just a booking confirmation email.
Thirty places. Five reasons to visit each one.
Our Featured Destinations
Grouped by what they offer rather than by geography alone, the coast, the ancient cities, the tea country, the parks and the wilder, quieter corners that don’t fit neatly into any of the others.

Negombo
The gateway coastal town, minutes from the airport, with a working fish market, a network of Dutch-era canals and a settled, unhurried first-night atmosphere that suits travellers stepping off a long flight. It rarely gets more than an evening in any itinerary, yet it does real work: an easy first night removes the temptation to push straight into a long drive after landing. A walk along the beach as the fishing boats come in or through the market as the day’s catch is sorted, is a genuinely worthwhile way to spend that first evening rather than simply recovering in a hotel room.

Udawalawe National Park
An open-grassland park built around a large reservoir, offering some of the most reliable elephant sightings anywhere in Sri Lanka thanks to its clear, unobstructed terrain. Where Yala rewards patience in dense scrub, Udawalawe tends to deliver herds in plain view within the first hour of a drive, making it a strong choice for shorter itineraries or families who want a dependable wildlife encounter without a long wait. Beyond elephants, expect water buffalo, crocodiles and a wide variety of raptors and waterbirds around the reservoir edges. It features in three of our nine tours, most often where a shorter or gentler safari suits the itinerary’s overall pace better than Yala’s longer, more variable drives.

Sigiriya
The fifth-century rock fortress at the heart of every Breeze of Asia collection, a royal citadel rising 200 metres above the surrounding jungle, with hydraulic water gardens still partially functional at its base, celestial-maiden frescoes painted directly onto the rock face and a mirror wall inscribed with a thousand years of visitor poetry. The climb itself, roughly 1,200 steps, is best tackled in the cooler morning hours, rewarding travellers with 360-degree views across the entire Cultural Triangle from the summit palace ruins. It’s the single site every one of our nine tours includes without exception, a genuinely rare point of consensus across three otherwise very different itineraries. Pidurangala Rock nearby offers an alternative sunrise vantage point looking back at Sigiriya itself.

Polonnaruwa
Sri Lanka’s second ancient capital, its ruins considerably more compact and better preserved than Anuradhapura’s, spread across a site genuinely suited to exploring by bicycle. The Gal Vihara, four monumental Buddha figures carved directly from a single granite face, is the site’s clear highlight and among the most striking pieces of Buddhist rock sculpture anywhere in Asia. Its royal palace complex and sacred quadrangle round out what is consistently one of the most rewarding half-days available in the Cultural Triangle. We recommend it as a strong addition for any itinerary with an extra day to spend in the region, best paired with an early start to beat both the heat and the crowds.
Twelve experiences. Every one of them worth building a day around.
Activities
Not add-ons, not filler between destinations, these are the specific experiences that make each collection what it is. Book one alongside any tour, or bring together a few to shape a day entirely your own.

Rekawa Turtle Beach Night Walk
- Marine Conservation
A guided evening walk to observe sea turtles nesting at one of Sri Lanka’s most important conservation beaches, home to five nesting species across the season. Guides time the walk around nesting activity rather than a fixed schedule, which means some evenings deliver considerably more than others, something we’re upfront with guests about before booking. It’s a genuinely low-impact encounter, observation-only and led by a conservation programme rather than a commercial tour operator, which is exactly why it’s worth the evening.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage Visit
- Wildlife & Family
A visit to rescued and orphaned elephants, with the riverside bathing session a highlight for children and families in particular. The visit is structured around observation rather than direct contact and timing around the scheduled feeding and bathing sessions makes the biggest difference to how much guests actually see. It pairs naturally with a Sigiriya-area day, requiring only a short detour rather than a dedicated excursion.

South Coast Water Sports & Resort Leisure
- Beach & Water Activities
Jet ski, banana boat and calm swimming beaches at a family-friendly south coast resort, with equipment and instruction arranged locally on the day. It’s designed as an easy, low-effort addition to a resort stay rather than a standalone excursion and works particularly well for families wanting to break up several consecutive beach days. A Madu River mangrove boat safari is available as a quieter alternative for anyone who’d rather spend the day on calmer water.

Whale Watching, Mirissa (Seasonal)
- Marine Wildlife
A boat excursion into a deep-water canyon known for blue and sperm whale sightings, with departures timed for the calmer, clearer conditions of the early morning. Outside the November to April season, a Polhena Reef snorkelling trip substitutes and we tell every guest plainly at booking which version of the experience their travel dates will actually deliver. Sightings are never guaranteed on any single trip, but the proximity of this particular canyon to shore makes it one of the more reliable whale-watching bases anywhere in the world.

Ayurveda & Wellness Retreat Programme
- Wellness & Spa
A doctor-led consultation followed by a personalised treatment programme at a certified retreat centre, opening with a full assessment of your individual constitution before any treatment begins. Programmes typically run two to four nights to allow the treatments time to actually take effect rather than being rushed through in a single day. Quiet beachfront settings on the south coast are used almost exclusively for this experience, giving the retreat itself as much restorative value as the treatments.

Knuckles Mountain Range Trek
- Guided Trekking
A demanding guided hike through cloud forest, waterfalls and highland villages in one of Sri Lanka’s least-visited ranges, crossing varied and occasionally steep terrain across a full day. It’s the most physically challenging experience in our collection and one best suited to travellers who genuinely want a proper trek rather than a scenic walk. A local naturalist guide is essential both for the route itself and for identifying the endemic species that make the Knuckles worth the effort.

Horton Plains & World’s End Hike
- Nature Hike
A walk across high montane grassland to an 880-metre escarpment with sweeping views over the southern lowlands, best begun before dawn to beat the cloud cover that typically rolls in by mid-morning. The circular trail passes through rare cloud forest home to several endemic bird species, with Baker’s Falls a worthwhile detour on the return leg. Warm layers are essential, temperatures at this altitude before sunrise are noticeably colder than anywhere else on the standard circuit.

Galle Fort Heritage Walk
- Colonial Heritage Walk
A guided walk through the UNESCO fort’s ramparts, lighthouse and boutique lanes, tracing three layered centuries of Portuguese, Dutch and British occupation still visible in the architecture. A specialist guide draws out details a self-guided wander would likely miss, from the old Dutch warehouses to the bell tower and colonial court buildings. Late afternoon light on the seaward ramparts is consistently the best time to walk the full perimeter.

Tea Estate Walk & Factory Tour
- Culture & Craft
A walk through working tea estates in Nuwara Eliya or Hatton, followed by a factory tour and Ceylon tea tasting that traces the leaf from plucking through withering, rolling and firing. It’s a genuinely hands-on look at an industry that shapes much of the surrounding hill country landscape, not simply a shop-front tasting session. Most guests find the estate walk itself, alongside pickers still at work, the more memorable half of the experience.

Yala or Udawalawe Jeep Safari
- Wildlife Safari
A private jeep safari for leopards, elephants and abundant birdlife, at dawn or golden hour, in whichever of the two parks best suits the rest of the itinerary. Yala offers the higher chance of a leopard sighting in denser terrain, while Udawalawe’s open grassland delivers more reliable elephant encounters in a shorter window. Both are run with a dedicated naturalist guide who stays strictly within park guidelines throughout.

Scenic Train Journey (Kandy-Ella)
- Scenic Rail
Open carriage doors, tea estate panoramas and highland ridgelines make this one of the world’s most scenic rail routes and one best experienced standing in an open doorway rather than seated throughout. Reserved seats on the scenic side sell out weeks ahead in peak season, so early booking matters more here than on almost any other experience we arrange. The shorter Nanu Oya to Ella section captures most of the highlights in under three hours for travellers who don’t have a full day to spare.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress Climb
- Landmark Climb
A roughly 1,200-step climb past ancient frescoes and the inscribed Mirror Wall to a fifth-century summit palace ruin with 360-degree views across the Cultural Triangle. The climb is steady rather than technical, but the exposed final sections mean it’s best tackled early, both for the cooler temperatures and to beat the midday crowds. Most travellers spend two to three hours at the site including a proper look at the water gardens below, which are easy to rush past on the way to the summit.

Day Tours
From a pre-dawn Sigiriya climb to a private leopard safari, these are the single-day experiences we rate highly enough to guide properly rather than rush through. Add one to any collection, stack a few together, or book any of them entirely on their own.
Scenic Train Experience, Kandy to Ella
Widely regarded as one of the world’s most scenic rail journeys, open carriage doors, tea estate panoramas, tunnel sections and highland ridgelines threading between Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Ella.
Sigiriya Rock Fortress & Dambulla Cave Temple
Climb the fifth-century rock fortress of Sigiriya, taking in the frescoes, the Mirror Wall and the summit’s ancient palace ruins, then descend to the Dambulla Cave Temple with its centuries of painted ceilings and over 150 Buddha images.
Nine journeys. Three completely different reasons to take one.
Tour Packages
A refined introduction to the island for travellers who want the classic sites seen properly rather than rushed, comfortable pacing, boutique heritage stays and a guide who treats each stop as a story rather than a box to tick.
